Project Homecoming Career Fair

For many who came out to the Oakdale Mall on Thursday it wasn't about finding the perfect outfit but shopping for the perfect job.

More than 50 companies were on hand for the annual Project Homecoming Career Fair.

The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce sponsors the job fair around the holidays to attract soon to be college graduates and families visiting their relatives in the Binghamton area.

"I think it gets our name out there to more of the local people or people who might be coming from out of town who might be looking for work and stuff like that," said Duane Gardner the Employee Training Supervisor at Maines.

"This is way easier, it gets everybody in one central location, it gets a variety of people, it really gives me a chance to get out there and get the confidence to go to the mall," said Stephanie Espada a Binghamton Resident.

The New York State Department of Labor will scan each resume collected Thursday and create an on-line database that participating companies can access in the future.
