Bandera Family Dinner

The traditional Bandera family dinner took place Tuesday and organizers say it was a success.

The dinner has been a tradition in Binghamton since 1985 and has been growing ever since.  They started preparing the dinner on December 17  and this year they served about 1,100 meals.

"We have a huge outpouring of volunteers, which was no change this year and we blow through all that food and it was a great success again this year," said Bill Bandera.

He says they usually make enough food  to serve 5,000 people. Bandera says that all of the Christmas leftovers are donated to local food charities.
