Binghamton Prepping for Storm

With the threat of snow, the City of Binghamton has issued a series of citizen advisories regarding the weather.

Motorists are being encouraged  to park off street as much as possible to allow for proper snow removal. To make that easier the city is offering free parking in the downtown parking ramps and in parking lots of city parks.

Alternate side parking will also be strictly enforced with vehicles parked illegally subject to ticketing and towing.

"If it's as potentially as bad as they say it could be, we need everybody's help to make sure our city's streets are safe, our sidewalks are safe and that we can safely move emergency traffic any where in the city," said Matt Ryan, Mayor of Binghamton.

Citizens are also encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel after 7PM tonight, and are being reminded that residents are responsible for removing snow and ice from the sidewalks in front of their property, and dumping snow into city streets is illegal.
