25 Years to Life for Chenango Valley Grad

The man who sexually assaulted and killed his former high school classmate was sentenced to 25 years-to-life in state prison Friday.

23-year-old Alan Outman killed 21-year-old David Fillers on New Years Day of this year.

Both had attended Chenango Valley High school. Outman pled guilty in September to First-Degree Murder in Court Friday, the Fillers family talked about what David meant to them and showed pictures of him from throughout his life.

Outman spoke in court Friday as well.

"It felt very flat and unemotional.  And the contrast between the Fillers family and the defendant was quite striking," said District Attorney Gerald Mollen.

Mollen says the Fillers family agreed that the plea deal was the right way to proceed. As part of the deal, Outman will be eligible for parole in 25 years.
