Not Guilty; Joseph Ross Jones Murder Case

Accused murderer Joseph Ross Jones wiped a tear from his eye Wednesday afternoon as he heard the words not guilty from the jury.

Ross Jones was accused of second murder for the death of Daniel Martinez in October of 2011 over what prosecutors called a drug deal gone bad.

After a day of deliberations the jury decided that Ross Jones should walk.

Family members were ecstatic. The district attorney baffled.

"We're happy, yeah we're excited, thank you... Justice was served," said family members of Joseph Ross Jones.

"I have no idea how they came to that conclusion, let's just say the evidence is pretty clear bit it wasn't sufficient for the jury and that's their call," said District Attorney Gerald Mollen.

The man who admitted shooting Martinez, Daniel Doherty, testified for the prosecution saying Ross-Jones was also involved in the attack.

Doherty is serving at least 23 years in jail as part of a plea deal.
