On Saturday, residents came out to the beauty school at the corner of Court and Hawley Streets in Binghamton for the second annual Cut-A-Thon." Customers received a shampoo and cut for making a donation to the American Cancer Society. Santa even stopped by to show his support.
Organizers say the fundraiser gives students a chance to practice their skills all while helping out a great cause.
"It's a needed cause. The money is needed there for research and it's very important to put the awareness out there as well," says Cindy Lions, the event organizer and cosmetology director at Ridley Lowell Cosmetology.
"The fact the salon is doing it is amazing because it's a very good cause," says Tiffany Allen, a Cut-A-Thon Participant.
Lions says they hope to raise around 400 dollars for the American Cancer Society.
