BOCES Legislative Breakfast

New York State politicians and representatives from the Delaware, Chenango, Madison, Otsego  BOCES talked equity in school funding on Saturday.

The organization along with the Chenango County School Boards Association held its annual legislative breakfast at the Silo Restaurant in Greene on Saturday.

Educational representatives told legislators they need to provide an equitable distribution of state aid for schools.  Students  say they need more extracurricular activities and more opportunities to be career and college ready.

"Education is very important and we're going to see what we can do to help the rural upstate school districts.  That's something I've been working very hard on in the last couple years.  The poor upstate rural districts need all the help they can get and that's what we're going to try to do," said Senator Libous.

Educational representatives also discussed the need for fiscal and regulatory relief for our area schools.
