Downtown Binghamton Development Report

Remember how downtown Binghamton used to be?  Mayor Matt Ryan does.

That's why he and the Commission on Downtown Development were talking with the media Wednesday.

They released the  results of research and studies that were conducted to figure out the best approaches to making downtown vibrant, livable, and exciting.

"I grew up around here I know what it used to be like, wall to wall people, shoulder to shoulder downtown. And we see glimpses of that with the art walks have have and many, many people downtown, thousands of people in one night. We want to make that every night of the week," said Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan.

The Commission is making recommendations of how to best invest in a new downtown, which would feature retail, commercial, industrial, and green development projects.
