Fracking Protestors Greet Governor Andrew Cuomo
12/5/2012 (Updated 8:19:14 PM)
Pro-gas landowners say they wanted to remind the governor that they are still ready for drilling to begin.
But a number of members of NYRAD or New York Residents Against Drilling came out on Wednesday.
They say Cuomo and the State DEC aren't properly reviewing the health concerns regarding fracking.
"There's no transparency about what the experts are even reviewing. There's no public comment period. There's a rumor they are doing only 25 hours of review. It's a 4000 page document that they're supposed to be drawing together the health implications for.The way he's going about it is just unacceptable," says Ben Perkus of NYRAD.
"Maybe the decision has been made at least in people's minds if not entirely but it's always good to know you have supporters out there for what you've decided to do and we hope we're the supporters," said Vestal landowner Christy Everitt, a member of the Joint Landowners Coalition of New York.
Cuomo said on Wednesday the state has the right people to assess fracking and that New York will decide the issue based on science.
