Small Business Owners Rally To End Tax Breaks For Rich

Small business owners along with community groups are calling on members of Congress to end the tax breaks for the rich.

The groups rallied at River Read Books on Court Street in downtown Binghamton Saturday. They're urging people to contact Congressman Hanna and Senator Schumer to end the Bush tax cuts for those making over $250, thousand  dollars a year.

Saturday's rally was just one of several taking place throughout the country.  Activists say ending the tax breaks will only help their small businesses. They say their customers need to have more cash in their pockets to boost the economy, not more tax breaks for the rich.

"We the people, and that includes 97% of all small businesses like the one we are in today, who are not in the 2% need to reclaim our democracy," said Eileen Hamilin, Chair of Citizen Action.

The groups do not want see any cuts made to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security.
