The money is from the Community Foundation, but it won't be used just to fight alcohol and substance abuse.
It will also be used to discourage another form of abuse, that can lead young people to drugs or alcohol:
"It encompasses a lot more than just substance abuse. We talk a lot about bullying, because children that are bullied or are bullies can end up using substances. We talk about getting along with other people. And we about more hardcore issues like why you don't want to use drugs," said Kelly Bollinger the executive director of the Tioga Council of alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
Bollinger says the 14-thouand dollars will pay for a staff person who will carry out the work through outreach programs at Tioga schools.
