Consumer Experts Predict Biggest Cyber Monday in History

BINGHAMTON -- Black Friday was one of the biggest shopping days of the year, but consumer experts tell us that tomorrow's Cyber Monday may steal the show.

Kasey Taylor of Endwell is planning to take part in Cyber Monday, the  biggest online shopping day of the year since it was invented in 2005.

"I plan to online shop tomorrow because I tried to do Black Friday shopping and the crowds were completely insane, so I want to completely avoid it," said Kasey Taylor of Endwell.

On this particular day, online stores showcase special discounts, especially on electronics, and also offer free shipping.  Last year's Cyber Monday drew a 33 percent increase in U.S. sales from 2010.

Consumer experts say this Cyber Monday could be the biggest online shopping day in history.  Research firm ComScore says they predict consumers to spend over one billion dollars tomorrow.

"If I can't find certain things and I can find it online, I probably will shop online," said Carrie Burritt of Cincinnatus, NY.

But some shoppers at the Oakdale Mall told us even though they may do some online shopping, it is not convenient for them.

"The shipping and stuff is not really worth it.  You can just get it in stores.  It's a lot easier," said Justin Lake of Chenango Forks.

"I prefer to shop in person.  I like the hands-on approach myself," said Burritt.

Some sites like Amazon.com are starting their deals early, you can get Cyber Monday specials on the Amazon website  Sunday night through Tuesday.
