Cleaning up post-industrial sites

ENDICOTT -- Brownfields are a big problem at a number of post industrial sites in the Binghamton area.

Tuesday night, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo spoke about the proposed clean-up of the old IBM Gun Club Burn Pit.

Lupardo spoke before the Western Broome Environmental Stakeholder Coalition.

Lupardo said the clean-up has to be tackled in a proper manner.

"This is considered a legacy site where there is a history of contamination and we're interested to see what the DEC, in terms of cleaning up the site sounds like they have a very good plan underway and I'm anxious to see it get started and put the residents worries to rest," said Lupardo.

New York's Department of Environmental Conservation Jon Greco was also in attendance.
