McIver, Hickling sign NLI to stay in-state

Both Vestal's Kristen Hickling and U-E's Sierra McIver will remain in the State of New York when they head to college next fall.

Hickling signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball at St. Bonaventure next year.  The Golden Bear has been named to the All-STAC Softball Team's the last three years.

She said she chose to go play for the Bonnies because it really felt like home for her.

"I visited a lot of different schools, like all over and when I went there [St. Bonaventure] I really felt welcome and like I belonged there," said Hickling.

Across the river, McIver signed on to play lacrosse at the University of Albany.

McIver, who has played a variety of sports while at U-E, said while she still loves basketball, her new love is the sport of lacrosse.

Her decision also means she'll be playing Binghamton University in America East Conference play.  McIver added that she's excited at the opportunity to come home and play the Bearcats.
