Reed named America East Rookie of the Week

VESTAL -- Freshman mens basketball guard Jordan Reed has earned America East Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon. Reed averaged 16.7 points and 12.3 rebounds in his first three collegiate games and his record-setting performance on Sunday spearheaded the teams first win of the season, 62-54, over St. Peters.

Reed scored 17 points and grabbed a school-record 18 rebounds in BUs win over the visiting Peacocks. He exploded to the rim for five dunks and broke the schools rebounding record (Division I era) with his 18 boards. In the second half alone, Reed poured in 13 points and 11 rebounds to secure his second double-double in three collegiate games.

Reed took over in the second half, scoring five points in a 1:15 span (including a dunk) and hitting the glass. He hit 7-of-15 from the field and added two blocks and an assist in 38 minutes, drawing postgame praise from head coach Tommy Dempsey.

Jordan has a chance to be very special, Dempsey said of his first BU recruit. He will be a handful for people moving forward ... hes so relentless. Jordan is a big piece for us and to see what an impact hes had after just three games is impressive.

Earlier in the week, Reed had 15 points and 11 rebounds at Navy and then contributed 18 points and eight rebounds at Army.
