Sect. IV stars sign on the dotted line

ENDWELL -- The fall national signing period is in full swing, and one of the big signees, Alexandra Yacalis has found a division one home.

The gymnast out of the Southern Tier Gymnastics Academy signed a national letter of intent to go to the University of Washington next fall.

And she is not alone.

Many Section IV stars are inking NLI's for Division one scholarships. Thursday two from Maine-Endwell, Carter Austin and Tanner Cosens decided on their college future as well.

Austin, a 2012 Under Armor Preseason Baseball All-American will take his talents to Bucknell. While Cosens has found a new home, close to his old home, signing with Binghamton University to play lacrosse.

"All the sweat, practice, and everything like that - to know all of that wasn't for nothing, and to say that you made it, is and incredible feeling, said Cosens. I'm very glad I was able to accomplish it."

"It's kind of unexplainable, says Austin. (Theres) a lot of relief, (and) a lot of pride. It still hasn't hit me. All of the reality hasn't really set it yet, but it's a huge accomplishment for me, and it means a lot."

CHENANGO FORKS -- Over in Chenango Forks, three Blue Devils found college destinations as well.

Courtney Cook will swim for the University of Buffalo, Kyle Kelly will wrestle for Binghamton, and Michaela Transue will play softball for Hofstra.

And while each are happy to sign D-I scholarships, they're even happier to do it together.

"We've all sacrificed so much as teenagers, missing weekends, to work so hard to get here, and finally it's here and we all get to share it together," said Transue.

"I think that it's amazing that all three of us are able to go Division I, says Kelly. From such a small school, it's amazing that there's talent here."

"I'm so proud of every one of us, because we have wokred so hard to fulfill going Division I, and we all deserve it," said Cook.

We're not done with the signing period. We'll have more Section IV stars signing NLIs next week.
