Binghamton City School's New Superintendent Plans for Improvement

Wednesday we learned more about Binghamton City School District's new Superintendent Marion H. Martinez, and what she plans to focus on improving in our schools.

Dr. Martinez says the main issues she will work on with the school board are improving graduation rates and getting FEMA funding for the Macarthur School.

She says she needs to talk to the community before she makes specific plans.

"I'm not coming here with any pre-conceived ideas because I think it's important for me to do information gathering first to know what currently exists.  But certainly I know it's the board's intent to provide the highest level of education to all districts," said the new superintendent.

Martinez says she will immediately begin meeting with people individually and in groups across the district.
