Abdelazim Campaign Poll

The analysis of local election results have already begun --
and although Tarik Abdelazim lost big in his bid to unseat Debbie Preston as county executive, he says a poll he did in September, before the election shows that 60 percent of Broome County voters don't want to move forward with hydro-fracking at this time.

"I certainly saw that the industry would try and spin the election results to suit their interest and so I felt it was my responsibility to release some polling data that we had conducted just a couple months ago that clearly show by a two-to-one margin, Broome County voters support a moratorium or an outright ban as opposed to moving forward right now with fracking," said Abdelazim.

County Executive Preston is a staunch supporter of fracking -- with proper regulation, she says.

During the campaign Abdelazim stressed caution and more study before proceeding.
