Retiring 22nd District Congressman Maurice Hinchey is still campaigning, this time to make sure his protege takes his place.
Hinchey joined Dan Lamb Monday afternoon at VMR Electronics to express his full confidence and endorsement for Lamb.
Lamb was Hinchey's right-hand man for more than 15 years.
He helped Hinchey develop the idea for the Buy American Enhancement Act, which would require at least 75% of goods or materials purchased by the federal government to be made in the United States.
"I hope he's going to be here. I hope it for him, but frankly, primarily, I hope it for the rest of the people around here because he is going to do a good job for all the people in this region. He's going to do it very, very effectively, very strongly, and do the right kind of thing over and over again," said Hinchey.
Hinchey, who has been battling colon cancer, is retiring after serving 20 years in Congress.
Lamb is running against Republican Richard Hanna.
