The Salvation Army Needs Bell Ringers For Christmas Season

The holidays are just around the corner and The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers.

The agency is looking for volunteer Bell Ringers for the Binghamton area. Its a tradition that been taking place since the late 1800's.

The  money collected by the Ringers will benefit local soup kitchens and go towards other services.

Organizers said it's the perfect way to help those who are still suffering after last years floods.

"And once somebody rings the bell once they're hooked, they want to come back and do it every year. It can be a little chilly at times but if people dress warmly they really are rewarded." said Salvation Army Commanding Officer, Ron Heimberock.

The program raised over 100 thousand dollars last year, and they're looking to raise even more this year.

To sign up visit your local Salvation Army on Washington Street or call 607-722-2987.
