Southern Tier Residents Help Those Affected By Hurricane Sandy

A group of friends are collecting donations to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
   
Organizers collected a variety of items including blankets, shirts, gloves, hats, food, pet supplies and furniture on Saturday at All-Around Storage Center in Kirkwood.

Organizers say when last year's flood hit the Southern Tier many from the New York and New Jersey area came up to assist and  help people get back on their feet and its their way to pay them back.

"It's the worst time of year for this to happen, because winter is coming. We remember exactly what it felt like to just lose everything that we had.  I was one of the people that that happened to so we decided to put this together." said organizer Scott Lance.

All the donated items will be sent to New York and New Jersey next week.
