How You Can Donate and Help Superstorm Sandy Victims

(Source: Kate Thornton)

Folks will be able to make donations for victims of Superstorm Sandy in New York and New Jersey Saturday and Sunday in Kirkwood.

The collections will take place at  "All-Around Storage"  on Route 11 in Kirkwood.

Saturday: 10-11am and 5-6pm
Sunday: 11am-1pm

You can donate clothing, supplies, small furniture, bottled water, bedding, and more.

The organizers are looking to return the favor of so many people downstate helping our area during last year's flood.

"Store shelves being completely empty, people have things sitting around at their house that they know that they not going to be able to use immediately. So this kind of gives us that alternative to be able to use these items and still knows that they're helping people that don't have anything left," said organizer Rachel Kachadorurian.

Kachadorurian said they have three trucks so far making the trip.  They will start as south as possible, donate larger items to the Red Cross and Salvation Army, then work their way north and distribute the rest of the collected items.
