Preston Response to 50/50 Tax Split

Leaders of local municipalities gathered Thursday to demand County Executive Debbie Preston to restore the 50/50 sales tax revenue split between municipalities and Broome County.

The Preston administration responded, saying the Democrats are using old information to come up with the surplus figure of $3.2 million.

The administration also answered why it is taking a gradual approach instead of an immediate one to restore a 50/50 split of sales tax revenue.

"And he's looking at forecast projections, he doesn't understand the integrated plans that I have in place to go back to the 50/50 formula and my plan to reduce the County Executive again. I reiterate as far as I know the first County Executive to come up with a plan to try and get back into that 50/50," said Preston.
