Republican's Make Final Push Before Election Day

While many local officials were at the airport taking credit for the runway expansion project, they will spend the next few days trying to bring their campaigns in for a successful landing.

Here's a look at three Republicans running for State and Broome County office, Julie Lewis, Debbie Preston, and Tom Libous.

Even though it's her first time running for state office, Republican Assembly candidate Julie Lewis seems to have a firm grasp on what to do over the final days before Tuesday's election.

Lewis doesn't have the experience other Republicans running in high-profile local races do.

County Executive Debbie Preston is looking for her first four-year term after one year on the job.

State Senator Tom Libous is running for his 13th term.

But, all three say one issue has dominated this election, taxes.  And, each have their own solutions.

"One of my major goals is to see that airport corridor opened up for business to bring in new businesses. And  to make sure the small businesses know they have the support of the county," said Debbie Preston.

"We get a package to help small business with tax credits the 
opportunity to create, 1, 2, 3, 4, jobs. The small business people in the state need to same help the bog companies get," said Senator Libous.

"We are the highest taxes state in the nation on many different types of taxes. You can't go to Albany and rate that way and expect that that's going to change," said Juile Lewis.

With five days left before the election, this trio say they'll be working the phones and knocking on doors spreading those solutions to voters.
