10:00pm Storm Update

The full brunt of Hurricane Sandy is being felt down-state at this hour.  In the tier, not much rain yet, but winds are picking up.

Enough to be bringing down some tree limbs and causing power outages in scattered parts of broome county.  As of 10:01 pm NYSEG reported 490 customers without power in Broome County, 268 in Chenango County, and 201 in Tioga County.  Earlier this evening, along Watson Boulevard and Harding Street in Endicott a transformer blew and wires sparked and almost came down on the head of Fox 40 photographer, Scott Sesena .  Afterwards, he told us about what was a close shave for his personal safety

"It's just a shock, it's like, is this really happening to me?  It just takes you for a spin, makes you think about what just happened, think about your life," Sesena said.

A lesson of what can happen if you are outside during the storm.
NYSEG's figures are expected to fluctuate throughout the night.
For more of a look at conditions at 10pm Monday, Fox 40's Jeremy Donovan was out on the Vestal Parkway.
