American Red Cross is Ready For Hurricane Sandy

Meanwhile the American Red Cross has been getting for Hurricane Sandy's arrival.

The organization is staging 4 shelters across Broome, Tioga, Delaware and Chenango counties.  They'll have volunteers on standby in case they do need to open the shelters. Each one has enough room for about 80 people.  They'll also have cots, blankets, water and food available for those seeking shelter

"We're encouraging people to go out to Red Cross.org and you can find a list of all of the items you would need for a shelter at home.  Important things like a three day supply of water, food, can opener, medicine, blankets, warm clothing," said Shelley Bierwiler of the American Red Cross..

You can also download the Red Cross' hurricane application on your phone to find out where the closest shelters are located.
