National Commander of American Legion Visits Binghamton

The American Legion honored it's National Commander at a downtown luncheon Sunday.

James Koutz is on a trip across New York State visiting the different American Legion districts and Sunday he was at the Binghamton Riverwalk Conference Center.

Koutz took the opportunity to talk about finding jobs for veterans and healthcare for soldiers returning home, and his own special project, taking care of wounded soldiers.

"They got all their medical care taken care of for free.  The things they don't get are the comfort items.  So this is my project to get them if they need a sweatsuit item or if they need a gift card or a tv or a radio or whatever while they're in these military hospitals.  We want to make sure they have them so they're comfortable." said James Koutz.

The American Legion has close to three million members and is the largest veterans organization in the country.
