Volunteers Take Part In Make A Difference Day

Saturday was Make A Difference Day. Its when volunteers nationwide roll up their sleeves and get involved in a project to help others.

And the Broome County Dog Shelter was looking for some help.  They held an open house for people to come to the shelter and donate items such as dog food, treats and collars.

They're also looking for volunteers to help out at the shelter.  And of course there was always an opportunity to adopt a dog as well.

"We contract with 12 towns in Broome County that bring their strays to us.  We have these contracts and want to make sure every stray has a comfortable and safe place to be if they get away from their owners and a lot of time if we don't hear from the owners we can get them into our adoption program." said Kelly Conlon, Broome County Dog Shelter Manager.

It was the 22nd year that Make A Difference Day has been taking place and brightening up the lives of others.
