Siena Poll on Hydrofracking

Should Hydro-fracking be allowed right here in New York State?  That's the controversial question that many New Yorkers are waiting for the Governor to answer.

According to a Siena College poll released Friday, support for the drilling technique is on the rise.  The poll states that 42 percent of New York voters surveyed are in support of hydro-fracking, where 36 percent say they oppose it.  Siena College polled 750 registered voters and the survey has a margin of error just over 3 and a half percent.

"People are becoming more educated and realizing it can be done safely.  It's being done safely all across the country.  The only place its not being done is here in New York State,  which we need leadership in Albany to get this moving." said Daniel Fitzsimmons, President of the Joint Leadership Coalition of New York.

A decision on whether to approve the procedure is on hold as the DEC
works toward completing an environmental review.  State officials have not said when that will be completed.
