Candidates For Broome County Executive Hold Final Fundraisers

Voters have plenty of issues to consider as they head to the polls.  One local race they will decide is who will lead Broome County for the next 4 years.

On Sunday Republican Broome County Executive Debbie Preston held her final fundraiser at the Sons of Italy Lodge in Endicott.  Preston said she was pleased with the turnout. She was sworn in as Broome's 8th County Executive in January of this year and says seeing all the people at the fundraisers is energizing.

"I always have new energy.  I ran last year and I'm running this year so my energy level is right up there and were just looking for a big finish at the end." said Debbie Preston, Broome County Executive.

And in downtown Binghamton Preston's Challenger Democrat
Tarik Abdelazim held his final fundraiser at the Cyber Cafe on Main Street. Supporters enjoyed plenty of good food as well as music and entertainment.  With the campaign winding down Abdelazim says he's pleased with his efforts leading into the election.

"Now its a sprint to the finish line, but its been very exciting.  I feel great about where we are and the more people hearing my message, my vision for Broome, my record of accomplishments the more excitement there is and do I'm feeling very confident about November 6th." said Tarik Abdelazim, Democratic Candidate for Broome County Executive.

A debate between Abdelazim and Preston is scheduled for October 25th at Broome Community College.  The debate is open to the public and is free of charge.
