Binghamton City Council Looking to Restrict Tobacco Ads
10/15/2012 (Updated 11:37:05 PM)
That was a question that was put before members of Binghamton City Council during a work session Monday night.
The Tobacco Free Coalition is proposing zoning restrictions on advertising of tobacco products within city limits.
According to council member Lea Webb there are too many convenience stores that have advertisements inside their stores that target youth.
"Whether it comes from the colors that tobacco industries use to target those populations, the designs, all those things," said Webb. "So one of the things they we're looking is to make potential modifications to our zoning around how close those signs could be in the proximity of schools for instance."
