Fire Close Fred's Inn in Norwich

A fire has closed Fred's Inn on State Highway 12 in Norwich.  Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo said they received the call just before 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
   
The Chief said the fire started in the kitchen area and there were employees as well as some patrons inside at the time however, they were safely evacuated.

He said the building which has been there since 1933 did suffer extensive water and smoke damage.  The Chief said several departments helped extinguish the blaze and the cause is under investigation.
