Broome County Flu Clinic Open

The Broome County Health Department opened its community flu vaccine clinics for the public on Wednesday.

The clinics will be running throughout the month of November.

Health workers say that the flu vaccine is plentiful this year,  and available.

Who should get one?

"Anybody six months of age and older should be vaccinated, especially people that have certain medical conditions, caregivers of babies under six months of age, pregnant women, the very young, the very old, and health care workers," according to Susan Blythe, a registered nurse at the Broome County Health Department.

Some side-effects from flu shots might include soreness and redness at the site. and  perhaps, for first time users, a slight fever.
