Town of Union Officials Want to Revitalize an Old Eye-Sore

The Town of Union wants an eye-sore dating from the area's booming industrial era to be revitalized.

The Town of Union has filed for a warrant to perform a safety evaluation on the former Endicott-Johnson Shoe Factory, which has become part of a blighted landscape on North Page Avenue.

Town of Union Supervisor Rose Sotak says the town has been in talks with the current owner who she says wants the town to hold off on the warrant until they sell the building. Sotak says that won't happen.

"We just don't want to keep the problems passing from one to another while we're trying to do something with the building.  We need to have something done now," said Sotak.

A hearing in front of the Broome County Supreme Court is set for October 19th.
