Volunteers Help Renovate Single Mom's Home

Being a single mom is a tough job and there always seems to be  something around the house that needs to be fixed.
   
And that was the case for Patricia McGowan of Chenango Forks.  She has needed buckets and pans to collect all of the water that comes in from 6 different leaks in the roof of her home.

Now that problem has been fixed thanks to 50 volunteers from the Impact Project.  The workers from five different churches spent most of the day making the repairs and they also surprised her by putting up new gutters.

"It's like a big weight lifted off my shoulder I don't have to worry about how I would ever be able to come up with the funds for it so it's a wonderful blessing," said homeowner Patricia McGowan.

"The people who are helping, including myself, get just as much out of it to help somebody when you walk away you know you make a difference for somebody and there's so much to that," said Impact Project Director Jim Willard.

McGowan's house was the first of the Impact Project's fall campaign.  They hope to to help several more families before the first snowfall.
