First Friday Zombie Walk & Art Show

What began as a rumor a few days ago became reality Friday night in downtown Binghamton.  We are in the midst of an invasion of zombies.
Tom Allen has proof that they do exist and they are among us.

"Thru the streets of this great city"

That's the undertaker,  preparing zombies for their walk through the streets of downtown Binghamton.

"Looking forward to brains, that's the whole part of being a zombie is brains." said First Time Walker Dave Gatto.

Its the third year for the Zombie Art Walk.  Marianne Bauer started the tradition because it was difficult for her to attend events like this in other cities. So, she posted on facebook and the first year had close to 100 people sign up. She says the best part is seeing how other people react to the event.

"The reaction of the people not involved.  The performance of acting like a dead person when shambling through."  said Marianne Bauer, Organizer of the Event, also known as Madam Brain Food.

On Friday night over 300 zombies were shambling thru the city's streets and Marianne couldn't have been happier.

"Its fun you get to act like a kid again and act like this...ahhhhh."

Meanwhile, just down the street things weren't so scary at the Broome County Arts Council Building.  It was just one stop on the first Friday  Art Walk, an event that showcases local talent.

"Arts is something everyone needs to support, art has to do with that family unit, preserving heritage, bringing people together and that's what its all about." says Hall Groat, Professor at B.C.C.

This exhibit showcased a cross section of work from students and  faculity members of Broome Community College.  This exhibit was just one of several that were taking place tonight  throughout the city and of course, the zombies were carefully observing all this activity so they
can better conquer the city, and devour it's unsuspecting population.
