Hanna Kicks Off Campaign

Congressman Richard Hanna kicked off his campaign in the southern tier Thursday.

He visited Bothar Construction in Binghamton to highlight his own small business background and what he calls his independent, non-partisan approach. As an example, Hanna says he does not agree with the position of many in the GOP, including Mitt Romney, who refuse to consider tax increases as a way to tackle the deficit.

"I do not see us balancing our budget without additional revenue. it has to be on the table. it has to be part of the conversation. how you do that is the question, not if," said Congressman Hanna.

If Hanna wins re-election he will represent Broome County, which is currently being represented by democrat Maurice Hinchey. Hinchey is retiring and redistricting has brought Broome County into Hanna's current district beginning next year.
