FEMA Funds Mean More Fire Fighters For Johnson City

It's a big break for Johnson City struggling for some time now to keep it's fire  department adequately staffed while keeping taxes down.

One point two million dollars in federal funding will allow Johnson City to add six firefighters to the department.

The FEMA funding was announced Wednesday by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie who's been trying to prevent reductions in services is pleased, saying that the money will help with staffing levels.

The six positions would be added over the next two years.
