Binghamton Working Toward Five-Year Firefighters' Contract

Binghamton firefighters could see increased financial security with a new contract.

The firefighter's current contract expires after only one year, but  members of the Binghamton Fire Department are working to establish a 5-year contract.

Mayor Ryan says that the change is important for the firefighters and also the safety of the community.

"It draws a real good balance between recognizing that everyone has  cost of living increases but also that we are under tough fiscal times so I'd really like to thank the fire department and CAS. we finally finalized their contract," said Mayor Ryan.

City Council will be voting on the contract on Wednesday.
