New Development: State's Fracking Regs Deadline Could be Delayed

Friday night, New York's D.E.C confirmed to Fox 40 News that it might  miss it's late Nvember deadline for issuing proposed regulations for hydrofracking.

That's because of the state's recent move to expand its review of the health effects of hydrofracking.

That means a renewed period of public comment.

Also Friday, the D.E.C responded to area environmentalist William Hang's claims that his review of D.E.C. records over the past 25 years shows that the agency has not been as thorough in monitering or inspecting wells--as officials claim.

He points to crude oil in drinking water, and deliberate releases and spills in ponds and lagoons.

The D.E.C. tells us that such complaints largely concerned wells
drilled before environmental regulations were put in place.
The DED says it works with the state health department  to ensure safe drinking water
