575 Jobs: Sikorsky Closing Big Flats Plant

Another blow to the economy of Upstate New York.: 

Sikorsky Aircraft in Big Flats, in Chemung County, will be shutting down by the end of the year.

And when it does, it looks like more than 500 jobs will go with it.

According to a company e-mail,  declining defense budgets and market weakness is forcing the company to eliminate excess production capacity and increase efficiencies in order to remain competitive.

The company says it will work with employees to provide as much transitional support as possible.
