Traffic Stop Leads To More Charges For 3 Binghamton Residents

A traffic stop in Vestal leads to the arrest of 3 people from Binghamton who are suspects in an armed robbery in Pennsylvania and recent burglaries in the Southern Tier.

Vestal Police stopped the vehicle occupied by 30 year old Benjamin Johnson, 27 year old Joshua Olivera and 26 year old Miranda Guerin on Vestal Road around 5:30 yesterday afternoon, after a motorist reported they were throwing retail security tags out of their window.

Police quickly learned that Guerin and Johnson were identified as suspects in this weeks armed robbery of a subway store in Great Bend, Pennsylvania.  They also  found a pellet gun in the vehicle they believe was used in the robbery as well as narcotic paraphernalia.  The two are also suspects in recent burglaries in Binghamton and the Town of Conklin.

Police say Joshua Olivera initially gave them a false name.  He was identified as the suspect of a retail larceny in Johnson City earlier this month.  Authorities say all 3 are expected to face additional charges and remain in the Broome County Jail.
