Grandparents' Scams on Rise
9/10/2012 (Updated 10:41:56 PM)
Watch out for scams targeting them the Better Business Bureau says, because of the rise of social media, scam artists are able to obtain personal information about grandparents and their grandchildren.
Typically, grandparents will receive a frantic phone call from an impersonator who says that they are in trouble, and need money to get out of jail, or for travel expenses home.
Grandparents are urged to question the caller carefully, asking them for information that could not be obtained through social media such as where they went to school, and what their middle name is.
