"If it wasn't a tornado, had to be pretty close to it...."
The woman you just heard was outside her house in Vestal on Ross Hill Road.
She says the storm came upon them suddenly and ripped through the area quickly, but not before toppling a lot of trees, knocking down street signs, and knocking out power in the area.
"All of a sudden the wind kicked up, everything went white, the hail was coming down. I really felt I was going to be lifted up in my car and it was just extremely scary and everything kind of stopped and there were trees down all over the place," said Sherilyn DeHart of Ross Hill Road in Vestal.
And through West Vestal and up toward Apalachin and into Owego, power was out, and damage from heavy winds was evident. The storm blew in around 5 o'clock Thursday evening. Destructive bursts from thunderstorms lasted for more than an hour.
