Fracking, Sound Cannon Issues Draw Overflow Crowd in Owego

Too full, actually.

That's why two big issues that residents came to discuss had to be postponed.

Because the crowd was flowing out the door-- and it was standing room only, the town board decided it would be breaking the rules to allow a  public speaking portion of the regular meeting to proceed.
much of the crowd had come to speak either for or against a proposed morotorium on fracking within town limits.

Others in the crowd were there to complain about a propane sound cannon, which they say a resident has been using to harass, intimimdate, and terrify neighbors, their pets, and their children.
but most of the heat came from the fracking issue:


It's not known when the town board will reschedule a meeting where the public can address the fracking issue--
but-- the propane sound cannon will be discussed at a special meeting tomorrow night.  None too soon for some residents, who say their nerves are frazzled by the cannon.

Patty Barber says her neighbor begins firing the sound cannon with three blasts at 6:35 in the morning, and continues firing it at  1, 2, and 5 minute intervals.
