School Lunches Could Be Healthier Than Ever

It can be difficult to make sure your kids are eating right when they go back to class.

But with new USDA nutrition guidelines, school lunches could be healthier than ever.

Kids will have: a greater selection of fruits and veggies, limited sodium, 50 percent whole grains, and only fat-free or one percent milk.

"The child needs to take a fresh fruit or vegetable everyday.  And at the top it's going to say don't forget your fruit or vegetable and the rest shows what the choices are."

"The new school regulations with the USDA are some of the largest changes that we've seen in school lunch in years, and these are going to make a significant impact on children in this community."

Officials say that we can look forward to cafeterias serving only whole-grains next year.
