Girl Scouts Keep Tradition Alive In Nichols
8/31/2012 (Updated 10:45:38 PM)
The girls have organized the first-annual Nichols community day.
This after officials said it would no longer continue the Nichols Old Home Days after it's 100th anniversary last year. So in a month the girls led the charge to put the event together. It will feature a parade, barbeque, and entertainment on Monday.
"I think it was the fact that we had the flood and lost a lot of things. We didn't want to lose the Old Home Days, too." said Deanna, Nichols Community Days Organizer.
"We felt very sad and upset because we always used to come to Old Home Days. And when we figured out that it wasn't going to happen we decided that we should put it on this year and keep the tradition alive." said Kennedy, Nichols Community Days Organizer.
Proceeds from the community day will go to the Nichols food pantry.
