BU Men and Women release AE conference schedule

VESTAL -- The America East Conference has released its composite mens and womens basketball schedules for the 2012-13 season.

The Binghamton mens squad opens up conference play at Hartford on Wednesday Jan. 2 while the womens team hosts the Hawks on that same night. Starting times for all conference games have yet to be finalized.

The 16-game slate winds up on Saturday, March 2 for the womens team at home against UMBC. The mens team finishes their conference schedule at UMBC the following day.

On Saturday, Feb. 9, Binghamton will host its annual Winter Madness doubleheader. Both Bearcat teams will face Boston University.

Last years womens conference champion was Albany and the Great Danes will come to Binghamton on Saturday, Jan. 5. On the mens side, defending champion Vermont visits the Events Center on Wednesday, Jan. 16.

This year, the America East Mens and Womens Basketball Championship quarterfinal and semifinal round games will take place March 8-10 at Albany. Both championship games will then be held the following week at the site of the highest remaining seeds. The mens championship game will be on Saturday, March 16. The womens final is tentatively scheduled for that date, but subject to change due to television.

The leagues full television schedule will be announced at a later date.
