New Law Restricting Doctor Shopping Signed

Governor Cuomo signed the I-Stop bill into law Monday.  It's designed to restrict doctor shopping.

Doctors will be required to use electronic prescriptions instead of paper starting in December of 2014. 

It's the first law of its kind in the nation.  By keeping better track of scripts, authorities hope to prevent people from getting certain medications from more than one doctor, and from getting refills before they are supposed to.
