Chobani Yogurt Donates Over Quarter Of Million To Hospital

It was an exciting day for employees and patients at the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.

The Chobani Yogurt Company which is also headquartered in Norwich donated over a quarter of a million dollars to the hospital to purchase a new digital x-ray machine..  The new piece of equipment will support the hospital's expanding orthopedic services.

"A lot of our day to day reimbursement goes to our day to day expenses so to come up with that extra capital to buy new equipment and update our facilities is very important and community partners are really the most essential piece of that." said Dr. Drake Lamen, President and CEO of UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital.

"We are in the community, are people working here.  Our plant is right here.  We send our employees to the hospital and its in and out every day.  There can't be any better fit than that." said Hamdi Ulukaya, President & CEO of Chobani Yogurt.

There were several companies that applied  for the money, but Chobani officials say the hospital was the best fit.
